LEOFF 1 Members 

Retired Law Enforcement Officers and Firefighters that were established in the Washington State Department of Retirement System prior to October 1, 1977.

LEOFF 1 Board Member Duties

The Law Enforcement Officers and Fire Fighters (LEOFF 1) Board reviews and approves all eligible disability and medical claims submitted by retired Law Enforcement Officers and Fire Fighters (LEOFF 1) members in accordance with RCW 41.26,.

Meeting Dates & Location

All LEOFF 1 meetings are held in the Whitman County Public Service Building, 2nd floor Conference Room B, Colfax, WA beginning at 10:00 am. 

The Board meets 4th Tuesday of October, November, December and January,  unless the fourth Tuesday falls on a municipal holiday, the meeting will be held the third Tuesday of the month or the next business day following the holiday.

  • Tuesday, December 20, 2022 (3rd Tuesday)

Board Members

The Board shall consist of five (5) members (RCW 41.26.110), as follows:

  1. One member of the legislative body of the county to be appointed by the county legislative body; and,
  2. One member of a city or town legislative body located within the county which does not contain a city disability board to be chosen by a majority of the mayors of such cities and towns within the county which does not contain a city disability board; and,
  3. One active fire fighter or retired fire fighter employed by or retired from an employer within the county to be elected by the fire fighters employed or retired from an employer within the county who are not employed by or retired from a city in which a disability board is established and who are subject to the jurisdiction of that Board; and,
  4. One law enforcement officer or retired law enforcement officer employed by or retired from an employer within the county to be elected by the law enforcement officers employed in or retired from an employer within the county who are not employed by or retired from a city in which a disability board is established and who are subject to the jurisdiction of that Board; and,
  5. One member from the public at large who resides within the county but does not reside within a city in which a city disability board is established, to be appointed by the other four members designated in this subsection.

LEOFF Board Members are elected or appointed, serving a two year term, with all terms expiring December 31st.
